Senet is a small mountain village, located at an altitude of 1340 m, which belongs to the Alta Ribagorça, a Catalan region bordered to the north by the Vall d'Aran, to the south by the Pallars Jussà, to the east by the Pallars Sobirà and to the west by Aragó.
At present the village has 40 registered inhabitants, approximately five houses inhabited on a permanent basis throughout the year and during the winter and summer holidays it is full of other houses and cottages that have a second residence there.
It is a quiet place far away from noise and environmental pollution; it is very rural. There are no roads and the streets of the village are practically pedestrianised. The scarce presence of cars and the calmness that is breathed there is what has led two summer camps to establish themselves there; these, together with the apartments, are the only "business" existing in the village.
At the entrance to Senet, not only does the Way of St. James pass through it, but also the river Noguera Ribagorçana (where the more daring people, in the summer, take refuge!) and a ravine.
There is also an information and interpretation centre for the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. At the very heart of the village is the Romanesque church of Santa Cecília, which was built in the 11th century and still preserves its essence today. At 1.9 km there is Aneto, a small village where there is the nearest restaurant. The nearest shopping centres are Vilaller (10' by car), Viella (20' by car) and Pont de Suert (20' by car).
