Unesco announced on December 1, 2015 the inclusion in this prestigious international list of the candidacy of the Festes del Foc del solstici d’estiu als Pirineus as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Nevertheless, Alta Ribagorça is the region with the most Falles villages in the Catalan territory. The «Baixada de Falles» has been a deeply rooted tradition in the villages of Alta Ribagorça since ancient times. The falles are resinous trunks about two meters long, which are prepared a few days before so that they are ready on the day of the “baixada” also known as descent. The falles descent start from a high place in the mountain, visible from the village, where a pine tree called «far» has been planted, which is where the falles are lit before starting the descent.

Girella Fair

Fair of exhibition of crafts and ancestral traditions of the region. There is also a girella tasting in the Plaça del Mercadal.

Tots Sants Fair

Old traditional fair in which the exhibition of animals and the contest of the Bruna cow of the Pyrenees are held.

Ball Pla, Ball de Sant Isidre and La Pila

Taüll celebrates the festival in honour of San Isidro, its patron saint, on the third Sunday in July. The Ball Pla is danced together with the Ball de Sant Isidre. This is followed by the pila, a human tower in which only men take part and which is characterised by a kind of human tower, with the particularity that the person who crowns the tower does so upside down.

Ball Tatero

Cada año, el 15 de agosto, Festa Major de Vilaller, se baila el «Tatero», un baile constituido por quatro parejas de casados y solteros con indumentaria típica del territorio.
